What is a Role Model?

People have been complaining about the behavior of Ben Roethlisberger
and the fact that he is a poor role model for our children.

It is great to have your kids realize that these athletes work hard to get to their position but don't encourage them as role models. Because they are humans and human beings make mistakes. But you could explain that fact of life to your children.

"The problem with me making a comment is that I don't know the facts. I don't know what happened. I wasn't there. I wasn't a part of it. I've read accounts, but we don't know the truth," said Russell. This quote comes from Steeler great Andy Russell

Think about this people none of us know the facts but many of us are trying Ben in the media and in our homes.
We do not have the facts therefore we can not be judge and jury.

Happy Mother's Day

My son did a special gift for me today. he created a blog ,he even put a song list on it with special songs for Mothers. I think this is one of the best gifts I have ever gotten. he is a very thoughtful young man and he has given me other wonderful gifts,showing his appreciation and love for me.
Mother's Day is hard after you lose your own Mother, but when you have children you appreciate the day being their Mom.

Richard Jeni

Suicide is such a tragedy. Richard Jeni such a talented man who made the world laugh for years. Apparently he was bothered by something in his life which couldn't be conquered by humor or fame.It is sad for the world and even more sad for the Jeni family. God bless them and let them find strength in the Lord.
"What a loss and what a shame, as someone who gave so much laughter and joy, that he couldn't find enough to give it to himself," comedian David Brenner said Monday.

Heartbreak

Isn't this so true? We hurt so much when trauma enters our life, but it truly isn't our heart,it is our minds going over the hurt and thinking how we might have changed anything to keep it from happening. In our minds we torment ourselves with what ifs and I should haves, so that our mind is tormented, and we can actually make ourselves physically ill.
Yet the truth of the matter is our mind is making us hurt, causing our pain,not our heart.

In the news lately ,there have two stories of heroes

One was about a man in New York who saw a young man fall onto the subway tracks. he jumped down to try to drag the young man to safety. He thought he would not have time,so He threw the man down and lay on top of him in a small area on the tracks. Some of the subway cars rolled over him. They both survived because of his bravery. I wonder if I have that in me to save a persons life Could I be so brave in this situation?
What about the young soldier who covered a grenade with himself to save his fellow soldiers. We hear some stories of wrong doing in the war by soldiers but there are so many more brave men and women giving their lives to defend this country.
I just hope that if I am faced with a situation I will be brave enough to do what is needed.
